Michael Brady: Operations Manager
Michael Brady has over 17 years experience in the underground mining industry as a Deputy and a mineworker. Michael has assisted in the investigation of fatal and serious accidents and served as a Reviewer on the last Queensland Mining Warden's Inquiry Panel into the nature and cause of a serious accident.
He has practical experience in many facets of underground mining, including:
- Place Changer
- Conventional development using primary and auxiliary ventilation
- Partial Extraction
- Pillar extraction
- Longwall Mining
Michael has performed the role of a Deputy as a permanent employee or contractor at Gordonstone, Cook Colliery, Oaky Creek and Kestrel Coal Mines.
Michael facilitates training sessions for:
- Apply Local Risk Control Processes
- Facilitate the Risk Management Process course.
- Basic Risk Management for Supervisors.
- ERZ Controller Courses
- The underground practical component of the ‘Accelerated Oxidation Course’
Michael has assisted in the development and implementation of Formal Risk Management Templates that are aligned to Recognised Standards and Guidelines applicable to the mining industry. He also has a wealth of experience in facilitating risk assessments for the purpose of developing Standard Operating Procedures, Management Plans and Hazard Management Plans.

Michael is in demand as a risk assessment facilitator; reviewer of risk management systems and processes associated with demonstrating due diligence.
A large proportion of his work is in the field assisting managers, frontline supervisors and operators to understand and apply effective risk management processes.
